District216 Shines at Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Celebration

The Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Celebration is renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and diverse exhibits. This year (2023) we were honored to have a booth for District216 at the event. As an organization dedicated to producing remarkable experiences and fostering a strong sense of community, our District216 booth attracted festival goers, offering information about our events, the perks of membership, and engaging conversations on psychedelics-related subjects. Also over the span of two sunny days in the park, District216 garnered support for a pivotal petition aimed at decriminalizing entheogenic plants and fungi in Santa Barbara.

An important facet of District216's booth was the openness and willingness to discuss psychedelics-related topics. Recognizing the growing interest and potential benefits of psychedelics, District216 aimed to inform festival goers about responsible usage and advocate for a transformative shift in policy. Engaging visitors in enlightening conversations, volunteers dispelled myths, answered questions, and shared personal experiences. By fostering a safe space for these discussions, District216 made substantial strides in raising awareness and dismantling societal stigmas surrounding psychedelics.

The Petition for Decriminalization was one of the paramount objectives of our presence at the Summer Solstice Celebration to rally support for this crucial petition which urges the Santa Barbara City Council to decriminalize entheogenic plants and fungi. This endeavor aligns seamlessly with District216's partnership with the esteemed Decriminalize Nature organization, headquartered in Oakland. Over the course of the two event days, many festival goers eagerly added their signatures to the petition, expressing unwavering support for this progressive cause. The weight of these signatures propels us that much closer to our mission of making Santa Barbara the 17th city in the nation to decriminalize entheogens, a monumental leap towards reshaping drug policies.
