A Night of Augmented Innovation and Inspired Reality with Kayla Silber

We had the pleasure of hosting the extraordinary Kayla Silber, Augmented Reality Artist & Author, at The District House. Her session, “Storytelling Through New Media (Augmented Reality),” left our audience in awe and sparked engaging discussions on the future of art and technology.

The evening began with Stephanie Karzon Abrams, our guest interviewer, introducing Kayla. Stephanie’s insightful introduction set the stage for an unforgettable experience. Kayla then took over, captivating everyone with her unique journey and innovative work.

Kayla shared how her transformative experience with 4 grams of mushrooms led her to explore new dimensions of creativity, ultimately resulting in her groundbreaking children's book that uses augmented reality and AI. She began by showcasing some of her original paintings, which are activated by Augmented Reality software on a device. As the audience watched, these paintings came to life with amazing, intricate, and psychedelic animations, revealing hidden stories and meanings within each piece.

The presentation delved deeper as Kayla talked about how her book was written and downloaded to her during previous psychedelic experiences. This personal narrative added a profound layer to her work, demonstrating how art and personal growth can intertwine in unexpected ways. She then showcased her book, page by page, with each one triggered by augmented reality animations. The audience was mesmerized by the seamless blend of traditional storytelling and cutting-edge technology, making the book an immersive and interactive experience.

The night concluded with Stephanie Karzon Abrams returning to complete the interview with a lively audience Q&A session. The crowd was super engaged throughout, eager to learn more about Kayla’s creative process and the potential of augmented reality in art and education.

The energy in the room was electric, and the enthusiasm from our guests made it clear that this was a night to remember. We are thrilled to announce that Kayla’s full interview will soon be available on the District216 online platform, allowing everyone to relive this inspiring event.

Stay tuned for more updates and future events that push the boundaries of creativity and innovation.
